Wrist Mount 08/22/2009
Tricks referenced in this tutorial Breakaway Houdini Drop Trapeze About this trick In some Sports Ladders (a division in yoyo contests), they require you to get into Wrist Mounts by swinging around your freehand index (instead of thumb), throwhand wrist, and then freehand index again, at which time you mount. This is a little more challenging at first, but I would recommend learning it just in case you do decide to compete in a Sports Ladder sometime. 6 Comments Amorphous 08/21/2009
Tricks referenced in this tutorial Multifarious Whip Brother Suicide Green Triangle About this trick This trick actually just began as a way to dismount the Multifarious Whip. It just sort of took shape from there. It just goes to show, you may end up making up a trick even if you don't mean to. Multifarious Whip 08/18/2009
Tricks referenced in this tutorial Breakaway Plastic Whip Hidemasa Hook About this trick This one could be very challenging when you're first starting, or it could be pretty straight-forward. It all really depends on how well you have Plastic Whip and Hidemasa Hook down. If you're fairly new to those two tricks, I would recommend really getting them strong before attempting Multifarious Whip. Plastic Whip 08/13/2009
Tricks referenced in this tutorial Sleeper Bottom Mount About this trick It actually happens to be more common for people to do this trick using their throwhand thumb to "catch" the string, rather than with their throwhand index, as shown in the video. I'm not completely sure why I learned it using my index, but you have the liberty to learn it however you like. Whichever way feels more comfortable, go for it. Plus, once you are able to do it one way, there's really nothing stopping you from learning it both ways, or any number of other ways that you can think of. Hidemasa Hook 08/13/2009
Tricks referenced in this tutorial Breakaway About this trick This probably looks like a fairly complicated trick. Don't worry though, it's really not. There are just a few important things to remember: 1. Make sure your freehand index is intercepting both parts of the loop of string, not just the one closest to you. 2. Make sure your freehand index is right next to the left side of the yoyo as the loop starts swinging around your index. Keeping your hand close to the yoyo will make hitting the axle with the far side of the loop easier.Keep those in mind, and you'll do more than fine. Rebound 08/09/2009
Tricks referenced in this tutorial Bottom Mount Brain Twister About this trick It's very important, especially when you're learning (but honestly, even after you have it completely down) to throw a very hard Sleeper for this one. The yoyo is going through a lot of snag-potential areas in this trick, so the faster it's spinning, the better. Sewing Machine 08/09/2009
Tricks referenced in this tutorial Sleeper Bottom Mount Brain Twister About this trick I saw this on an old trick DVD (same one I saw Peng-Pong on, for the record) and thought it was fluid and interesting enough that I should share it. Grapes 08/03/2009
Tricks referenced in this tutorial Trapeze Lindy-Loop About this trick This trick, like a lot of tricks, is going to feel pretty stinkin' awkward at first. But, once you get good at it, it's a lot of fun. It's also interesting experimenting how large you want the arc of the swing of the yoyo to be, since it can create some totally different looks and feels of the trick. F.Y.I. You know, I was just messing around in 5A (I stink at it), and I found that this trick is somewhat useful for an Electric Fan variation. Probably all you 5A fanatics already figured that out, but whatever, hahaha. Jedi Backflip 08/02/2009
Tricks referenced in this tutorial Brother About this trick An oldy but goody. It's a trick you can throw into any random combo to add some flare. String Tension 08/01/2009
Tricks referenced in this tutorial Sleeper About this trick Of course, if you don't want to make the effort to learn this, you can always just take the slipknot off of your throwhand, grab the yoyo, let the string dangle toward the ground, and then run your freehand index finger and thumb down the string to get it all tangle-free. But, that's not nearly as flashy, now is it? | Welcome to Rethinkyoyo
